How Nevada late fees work
In Nevada, late payment fees on commercial invoices are governed by Nev. Rev. Stat. §99.040 (legal rate of interest). The legal maximum is 1.5% per month (18% annualized). Legal rate is prime + 2% (currently ~10.5% per year). Written contracts may set higher rates with no statutory cap on commercial.
The fee must be stated in a written agreement before the work is performed. Without a written rate, only the statutory default rate applies.
Nevada prompt-pay law
Nevada Prompt Payment Act (NRS 624.624 et seq.) Subs paid within 10 days of GC receiving payment; prime + 4% interest if late.
